Public transportation has its advantages- no need to worry about parking, you can read or relax while someone else handles the driving, and some believe it is cheaper than owning a car. Plus it is an excellent way to be more environmentally conscious.

Running on empty?
go:
Have you ever run out of gas? We’ve heard (not from our own experience or anything) that it’s a not such a great event - coming to a slow stop (on Sunset Boulevard), car dying in the middle of the road (at 11:00 at night), walking for miles to find a gas can (in high heels).
If you have ever been fuel-less, we want to know about it. How’d you get home? Where were you? Spill your guts...

The Huntington Library in San Marino, known as the home of Gainsborough’s “The Blue Boy,” made news four years ago with its acquisition of something a lot bluer: a cache of papers, books and memorabilia belonging to Charles Bukowski, the L.A. author known for hard living and hard-edged writing.
This fall, the Huntington will offer the public its first look at material from its...

On why los angeles.
dearcoketalk:
Why LA over New York or San Francisco? Of those three fab cities, LA would be my last pick. What do you love about it?
Ah, yes. New York. Los Angeles. San Francisco. The three most fashionable tribes, each with their own unique rituals, mythologies, and standards of beauty.
We are tribal creatures, after all. It’s not the most evolved part of the human condition, but you can’t...

Meredith was only in town for a short while but captures the spirit of waking up, existing, and driving the freeways in Los Angeles perfectly. Godspeed, little viking. Get back to NY safe.

You’ve been kind—in a lukewarm sort of way. There’s really no reason to stay in. You’re an uneventful dream. I don’t wake up sweating or smiling, here. The sun is beautiful...
5 Amazing Slices of Pizza in LA →
1. Two Boots, Echo Park This NY-based spot, brilliantly located near the Echo/Echoplex is the perfect place to get a Louisiana-esque spicy slice of pizza with Andouille sausage and shrimp or a slice of Lebowski-inspired “The Dude” pizza before/during/after a show…but, even if you got a slice of plain cheese, you simply can’t go wrong.
2. Tomato Pie, Silverlake All the slices here are pretty...

The Mirror Man
hahamagartconnect:
It may look like a statue but’s is actually a man in a head to toe suit made of glass, standing outside of the Griffith Observatory in LA. No one knows who the mystery man is, but I have to admit this is pretty cool.

The Hollywood Sign Hotel →
unknownskywalker:
Christian Bay Jørgensen, owner of Bay Arch, has an idea to turn the famous Hollywood Sign into an hotel. This could solve the money/land issues that have been sorrounding the sign lately. The plan calls for the famous letters to be enlarged to double the size, building them out from the back, allowing guests to stay inside the Hollywood sign itself.

Tomorrow, for Earth Day, you may want to change things up a bit. Maybe ride your bike or walk to a neighborhood watering ground when you’d normally drive. Eat lunch at a restaurant that prides itself on sourcing from local farmers. Or pack a trashless lunch.
Fortunately, some local restaurants and businesses are getting involved by hosting events or specials in an effort to celebrate...

atencio:
Google alerts totally failed me this week because I didn’t notice Nick Douglas’ Urlesque post about my director’s cut version of the Watermelon Porn I directed until I checked my vimeo stats and wondered how the hell that video managed to get 2,000 views this week. In the article, Nick claims he made the post as flattery so he could send me his screenplay, to which I respond: it totally...
