Parking woes at Baby Blues BBQ →
Interesting thing about “valet marked” parking meters and if that’s legal or not and so on.
I was there two nights ago and the same thing happened to me. I really want to know how this works.

Bike Love →
LAPD Chief Charlie Beck had an informal meeting with bicycle advocates at yesterday’s transportation meeting—and it was a big love fest! Via the LAT: “[The exchange] marks the first time top LAPD brass has publicly addressed the issue. Beck said bike riders are ‘our most vulnerable commuters’ and that the police department needed to do a better job protecting...

Nick Thune: Iron Man
He can run run run, just a fast as he can. But sometimes, that’s just not fast enough.
New music video I directed and shot for a song on Nick’s comedy album Thick Noon, which is available now, so go buy it. I’m very proud of how this one turned out, so please, if you enjoy it, share it with others, or go digg it.

Supergraphic companies to pay! →
Tuesday, February 23, 2010, by Dakota
In an attempt to get big bucks from companies who put up illegal supergraphics on the sides of buildings and near freeways, today the City Attorney’s office moved forward with legal action against a group of 27 sign companies, property owners and individuals, alleging the parties are in violation of both the August 2009 ban on supergraphics and the...
More on the New Beverly Purchase →
“As long as I’m alive, and as long as I’m rich, the New Beverly will be there, showing double features in 35mm,” Quentin Tarantino told the Hollywood Reporter. He’s bought the 200 seat Fairfax District theater that has shown second-run double features since 1978 (Before that it was, appropriately, a grindhouse with live nude dancers, although it was built in 1929 and...
Quentin Tarantino Saves New Beverly →
molls:danirrational:
This is cool stuff. The New Beverly is the best movie theater in Los Angeles, possibly in the world. Their line up always amazes. We screened Downsized there, and the owners and everyone who works there are amazing folks. I only wish it was right around the corner from my house so I could go there every day.

A group of neighborhood homeowners, as well as the Coalition to Ban Billboard Blight, had appealed the approval of the signs, arguing there were...

When I am showing visitors around Los Angeles, I like to take them for a sandwich at Langer’s, an old-line Jewish delicatessen across the street from MacArthur Park that happens to serve the best hot pastrami in the world. By the time they walk the half block from the subway stop to the restaurant, they will have smelled...
